US Issues Over 1.1 Million Visas to Brazilians in 2023 – The Brasilians

The Embassy and Consulates of the United States in Brazil announced on Friday (5) a significant milestone: 1,125,000 visas were issued to Brazilians in 2023. According to the statement, this remarkable increase reflects the joint efforts made by the US consulates across the country to reduce wait times for visa interviews and provide a streamlined application process.

See the number of visas approved at each consular section in Brazil:

Embassy in Brasília: 173,000

• Consulate General in São Paulo: 517,000
• Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro: 230,000
• Consulate General in Recife: 87,000
• Consulate General in Porto Alegre: 118,000

“We are excited to witness this substantial increase in visa issuance. This achievement not only highlights the strong ties between our two nations but also demonstrates the growing interest of Brazilians in exploring tourism and education opportunities in the United States,” said Scott Riedmann, Acting Minister Counselor for Consular Affairs at the US Embassy and Consulates.

“In 2023, we increased the number of consular officers across the country, opened hundreds of thousands of new appointments, prioritized visas for students returning to studies, and streamlined the visa renewal process to better serve Brazilian travelers,” the statement emphasizes.

“This milestone serves as a testament to our ongoing dedication and commitment to expanding and improving the efficiency of our consular operations to meet this historic demand for visas,” it adds.
