Inside the Aviation Market between the United States and Brazil

Traveling between Brazil and the United States is still more expensive than it used to be. But this is not different from what is happening in the airline industry in other markets as well. Traveling anywhere has become more expensive after the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, the air market between Brazil and the U.S. has never been larger. A report from Simple Flying shows that the market between the United States and Brazil is huge, with airlines offering over 350,000 seats between the two countries in October.

Three American airlines and three Brazilian ones connect the U.S. to Brazil: American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Azul Linhas Aéreas, Gol Linhas Aéreas, and LATAM Brasil. American and United have the highest number of scheduled flights in October, each with 70 weekly departures, or ten per day. LATAM Brasil is not far behind AA and UA in terms of flights, but it has the largest seat offer among the airlines, with 22,384, or 25.5% of the total seats offered.

Miami has the highest number of Brazilian arrivals and departures in the U.S., with 86 of the 322 weekly flights, or about 26.7% of the total market. Miami is connected to Brazil by three airlines: LATAM Brasil, American Airlines, and GOL.

Miami is connected to four Brazilian cities, as Azul chose to operate at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport, Fortaleza, Brasília, Rio de Janeiro (Galeão), and São Paulo (Guarulhos).

Although nine Brazilian cities are served from the U.S., São Paulo-Guarulhos has the highest number of flights, as it is one of the busiest airports in Latin America. Two hundred and sixteen flights from the U.S. are scheduled for Guarulhos in October, up to 16 daily in each direction. The remaining flights are divided among Campinas (Viracopos), Belo Horizonte, Recife, Manaus, Belém, and the other cities mentioned above.

The busiest route is from São Paulo to Miami, served by LATAM Brasil and American, with four daily flights in each direction in October. São Paulo to New York (JFK) has one daily flight from LATAM Brasil, American, and Delta, totaling three daily flights. São Paulo – Atlanta is the third busiest route, with two daily flights from Delta.

With so many options, traveling between the largest country in South America and the U.S. has never been easier.
