Colombia registered the highest number of global web searches for properties in Miami in December 2022, according to a new report from the MIAMI Association of Realtors. Colombia now leads the list of foreign countries searching for properties in Miami for nine of the last 10 months.
Brazil made the largest month-to-month jump in the top 10, moving from No. 12 in November 2022 to No. 7 in December 2022. Changes in the global political landscape have historically led to increased global property purchases in Miami. Former leftist leader Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was inaugurated as Brazil’s president on January 1, 2023, amid disturbances in the capital.
“Global buyers acquire properties in South Florida not only because Miami is a gateway to the world and a safe investment, but because we embrace all cultures,” said Ines Hegedus-Garcia, chair of the Miami board. “No other place in the world is more welcoming than Miami. This month, the World Population Review ranked Miami as the ‘Most Diverse City in the World.’”
Colombia accounted for 11.81% of all international searches on MiamiRealtors.com in December 2022, up from 11.41% in December 2021.
