The Power of Nature Captured at Iguazu Falls

Brazil is a land of endless surprises and discoveries. Undoubtedly, one of the many highlights of the country is Iguazu Falls, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The impressive Iguazu Falls are located within the Iguazu National Park. They form a system of 275 waterfalls in the midst of the Atlantic Forest, situated about 17 km from the mouth of the Iguazu River into the waters of the Paraná River, on the border between Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay.

This natural phenomenon, approximately 2.7 km long and with heights ranging from 60 to 82 meters, has an average water flow of 1,800 cubic meters per second. At the center lies the star of the Falls: the Devil’s Throat, a long U-shaped abyss that creates an impressive visual impact. It is the most well-known and imposing section, with over 80 meters in height, nearly 150 meters in width, and 700 meters in length.

In addition to its wonders and natural phenomena, Iguazu National Park allows visitors to connect with a flora and fauna as diverse as unique. It is a natural refuge that houses endangered species such as the jaguar, the tapir, the ocelot, toucans, anteaters, turkeys like the yacutinga, wild eagles, and the yacaré-overo, among others. All these animals coexist in a tree flora with over 90 species, where the palm and palo rosa forests stand out, a tree that reaches 40 meters in height with a diameter of about 2 meters.

If such an adventure offer may seem overwhelming, the Park features various circuits and facilities so that all visitors can experience it up close and in their own way. The Jungle Ecological Train allows visitors to get close to nature in a very relaxing way to enjoy the impressive waterfalls. The train connects to the Central Station, which offers a wide variety of services. Visitors can access the Upper and Lower Trails via the Falls Station, ending the tour at the “Devil’s Throat” Station.

The Lower Trail offers an intimate contact with nature through a walk that awakens sensations and provides endless views. It showcases the waterfalls up close in all their splendor and invites adventure in the jungle with the unique possibility of standing right under the Falls. The Upper Trail allows visitors to walk over most of the falls and enjoy panoramic views of the Falls from the heights of the Iguazu River. From there, it is possible to admire the Bosetti, Adan y Eva, Bernabé Méndez, Mbiguá, Dos Hermanas falls and a panoramic view of the majestic San Martín Island.Iguazu is also synonymous with adrenaline and excitement. To fully experience these sensations, nothing is better than the Great Adventure. It is a tour that combines the jungle with the waters of the Falls. Those interested in participating must take a truck that departs from the Visitor Center to the base of Porto Macuco. There, passengers board a boat that takes them 6 km through the canyon of the lower Iguazu River until they finally plunge under the falls.

Iguazu National Park is one of the greatest exponents, where a wild and natural spirit combines with unique and endless activities to meet the expectations of tourists and adventurers.
