September 2nd is approaching, which means that BR Day NY 2018 is on the way! Although there are still a few months until the event, people, especially Brazilians, are already making plans to attend this year. This spectacular event was created in 1984 by João de Matos as a way to celebrate Brazil’s Independence Day. Initially, the party was limited to 46th Street, now known as Little Brazil; but over the years it has grown so much that it had to be moved to 6th Avenue. BR Day NY attracts an audience of over 1 million people who crowd several blocks around 6th Avenue. It starts at 42nd street and ends around 57th street! If you’ve never been to BR Day, try to go this year, you won’t be disappointed! It’s a day filled with great music, delicious food, and beautiful, happy faces. Come celebrate the beautiful Brazilian culture! The party starts at 11 AM and ends at 6 PM, and this festival is free for everyone. BR Day NY is co-produced by entrepreneur João de Matos and the newspaper The Brasilians, with support from TV Globo.
