The Minister of Planning, Development, and Management, Dyogo Oliveira, has assumed the presidency of the Executive Council of the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) for a one-year term. This is the first time Brazil occupies the highest position in the bank’s Executive Council.
The mission of CAF is to promote development and regional integration through the financing of projects in the public and private sectors. Seventeen Latin American and Caribbean countries are partners of the Bank (which also includes Spain and Portugal), along with thirteen private banks.
The inauguration took place last March during the bank’s annual assembly in Panama City. The meeting also approved the bank’s financial statements for the fiscal year 2017, during which it invested $12.2 billion in programs and projects (of which $1.5 billion was allocated to initiatives in Brazil).
