Discover Guarapari – The Brasilians

Discover Guarapari

Guarapari is a prestigious tourist destination in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil, known for its coastal and mountain tourism. It boasts 52 of the most beautiful and popular beaches in Espírito Santo. In addition to the beaches, you will also find islands, lagoons, permanent preservation areas, theme parks, typical cuisine, and the second largest hotel network in the state. Moreover, the pleasant climate, quality of life, medicinal sands, and mineral water have established the area as a national reference in spas.

The historical and cultural monuments, located in the center, can be explored in an hour. The tour begins at the Casa de Cultura, which today houses the municipal library, passing by the central beaches, the Poço dos Jesuítas, the São João Batista Cemetery, the Gruta Pequena, the Ruins of the Old Church, the Old Matriz of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, and ending at the Radium Hotel.
Guarapari has two preserved natural and urban relics: the Paulo César Vinha State Park, with 1500 hectares of beaches, lagoons, dunes, and well-preserved fauna and flora. And the Morro da Pescaria Natural Park, which is entirely urban, located in the middle of Praia do Morro.
History and Culture
Tradition, history, and culture merge as a legacy for generations. Guarapari was fortunate to host, during the colonial period, one of the most significant figures in the church and the history of Brazil: Father José de Anchieta. Thus, under the pretext of catechesis and brotherhood, Guarapari was born. It was in 1569 when Father José de Anchieta traveled through the lands of Espírito Santo as Visitor of the Jesuits, tasked with establishing new villages for the catechesis of the indigenous peoples Goitacazes, Purus, Tupiniquins, and Aimorés. At the top of a hill, a convent was built for the missionaries and a church dedicated to Santa Ana, and this village was named Aldeia do Rio Verde or Aldeia de Santa Maria de Guaraparim.

Guarapari is located 53 km or about 1 hour from the state capital, Vitória.
