WARM-UP FOR BRAZILIAN DAY 2017 – The Brasilians

WARM-UP FOR BRAZILIAN DAY 2017

If the party is really good, why not make it bigger?

Traditionally, BR Day takes place on the Sunday before Labor Day in the United States. But since the party is so good, there’s always that craving for more.

This year, fans of the biggest Brazilian party outside Brazil will be able to kick off the celebrations on Saturday, September 2, at the “Warm-Up for Brazilian Day,” an event that aims to ensure even more fun for all Brazilians coming to New York City especially for the party and for foreigners who admire the traditions of our country.

Thus, on the Saturday before BR Day, Little Brazil (46th Street) will be closed between 5th and 7th Avenues for performances and exhibitions typical of Brazilian culture, in an event co-produced by businessman João de Matos.

Under the direction of Carlos Oliveira, there will be a samba school parade produced by the Brazilian Council on Samba, a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote samba internationally. Additionally, other elements of Brazilian culture will be highlighted, such as capoeira, which will be presented by Mestre Jelon Vieira and other masters coming from Brazil especially for the occasion, and martial arts, which will be showcased by the Gracie Family, Brazilian fighters known for developing Brazilian jiu-jitsu. To complement the party, it’s worth noting that there are good Brazilian restaurants in Little Brazil, such as Emporium Brasil, where festival attendees can also savor the best of Brazilian cuisine.

This event is free and aims to gather 10,000 people from different communities in New York to celebrate Brazilian culture and kick off BR Day 2017.

More details about the “Warm-Up for Brazilian Day” will be announced soon. Stay tuned!
