Joana Knobbe tried to escape music, but she couldn’t. Since the age of 8, participating in choirs, electric organ classes, and the school band, she left the northeast of the country to study Product Design in Santa Catarina. However, upon completing the course, she was already back on stage: performing as a jazz and MPB interpreter, in addition to teaching singing and vocal preparation.
Authored music came in 2012, alongside motherhood. “With the birth of my daughter, I was ‘forced’ to stay home more and went through a moment of great pain, but extremely creative,” Joana recounts. Only in 2015, back in Natal/RN, did the artist take the song Lîla, which is also her daughter’s name, to the stage for the first time.
In December 2017, Joana held the #tourMGRS, where she performed in Belo Horizonte (MG) and Porto Alegre (RS), an occasion when she met Loop Reclame. “It was a lot of fun and welcoming! I am very happy to be part of this team that already includes excellent artists, and I hope this is just the first step of a fortunate path we will still walk together,” Joana shares about the recording.
The release of Loop Sessions Joana Knobbe is double: there are two different vibes, two different stories, from the same artist and it has been available since February 23 on
YouTube and digital platforms.
“The composition process of Lîla was like pieces of a puzzle fitting together. The introduction refers to Canto da Lagoa, in Florianópolis, where I lived. There in Canto da Lagoa, there is ‘a piece of bush that is no longer there’ and the ‘seeds of Garapuvu’, when they fall, create a beautiful swirl in the air. Besides that, the Aracuãs insist on waking us up with a song that sounds more like screams as soon as the sun rises. (laughs)
Lunar Fish is one of the most recent compositions. The lyrics and melody also came to me suddenly, inspired by a type of Piscean personality, which are people who are always very ‘dreamy’, light, and mysterious. Hence came the idea of lunar fish and a more psychedelic vibe.”
