Delta Announces Free Wi-Fi Onboard – The Brasilians

Delta becomes the first major U.S. airline to introduce free Wi-Fi to its passengers, in partnership with T-Mobile. The experience will be available on most domestic aircraft starting February 1 and will be available on international aircraft by the end of 2024.

Delta will offer free Wi-Fi in partnership with T-Mobile for all passengers on most of its domestic flights starting February 1 — the first major U.S. airline to offer free Wi-Fi.

The airline promises to install the service on more than 700 aircraft equipped with Viasat by the end of 2023. Delta also announced plans to bring free Wi-Fi to international aircraft by the end of 2024.

“At work, at home, and everywhere in between, connectivity is essential to daily life, and your journey on Delta should be no different,” said Delta CEO Ed Bastian at CES 2023 in Las Vegas. “Our long-standing vision is to provide a 30,000-foot experience similar to what our customers have available on the ground.”

Designed to fuel Delta’s vision of more personalized travel, customers will log in using their Delta SkyMiles account or join SkyMiles on the ground or in the air for free to connect.

“At T-Mobile, we believe staying connected while traveling should be an easy and seamless experience,” said Mike Sievert, CEO of T-Mobile. “T-Mobile customers already enjoy free Wi-Fi during flights, and now we are partnering with Delta to bring that experience to all customers — regardless of provider — so anyone flying on Delta can enjoy online access from takeoff to landing.”
