Those who have moved their residence abroad often forget about the CPF, the Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas, an identification document for taxpayers issued by the Brazilian Federal Revenue. However, starting in 2024, Brazilian consulates will require the CPF on service request forms.
“Every Brazilian citizen of any age who comes here to the consulate to request a service must necessarily fill in the CPF field,” informs the Consulate-General of Brazil in New York via video.
So if you or your children do not have a CPF or if your document is not up to date, it is time to regularize this situation. The process is easy, via email, directly with the Federal Revenue.
To request registration, regularization, or change of CPF, you must:
i) Fill out the online form on the Federal Revenue website https://servicos.receita.fazenda.gov.br/…/cpfE…/Fcpf.asp
Attention: Do not forget to disable your browser’s pop-up blocker. Otherwise, you will not be able to submit the request.
ii) After clicking on “send,” a registration form (FCPF) will be generated that contains a service code.
iii) Send the required documentation to the email: cpf.residente.exterior@rfb.gov.br, with information about which service is desired (registration, change, or regularization of CPF)
If you have any questions, you can send an email to: alistamento.novayork@itamaraty.gov.br
