Taylor Swift is releasing a filmed version of her summer tour that was a true success, “Eras Tour.”
The Swift film, which premieres on Friday (13) worldwide, surpassed $100 million in advance ticket sales a week before hitting theaters, said AMC Theatres, which is distributing the film.
But a concert film raises new questions for viewers accustomed to sitting quietly during a movie session. Can you get up from your seat and dance? What about singing along? How to react to other viewers asking you to sit down?
Yes, it’s more than normal to want to get up from your seat and sing as if you were holding the microphone. That’s why AMC Theatres released its own guidelines ahead of the film’s premiere.
The initial decree came from Swift herself: in an Instagram post announcing the film, she told her millions of fans that singing and dancing are “encouraged.” And few dare to disagree with Mrs. Swift.
While it is totally allowed (and even expected) to sing and dance, it is not polite to disrupt the experience of other viewers. So, AMC is asking viewers to avoid dancing in their seats (think about the reclining chairs!) or blocking others’ views.
And AMC recommends: Treat these films as if they were a live show, arriving early to sit down before the lights go out. Just like live shows, the Eras Tour film lasts about three hours.
