Brazil secured first and second place in the age group of 9 to 16 years and also won seven additional technical awards across all categories at the Robotics World Cup, which concluded on Saturday (April 20) in Houston, United States.
The Robotics World Cup, organized by the NGO For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST), takes place annually, bringing together 15,000 students aged 6 to 19 from 50 countries. This year, the event had the largest delegation from Brazil since its inaugural participation in 2000, with 144 students from public and private schools across ten states.
The eight members of Los Atômicos, hailing from Araras in the interior of São Paulo, claimed first place in the 9 to 16 age category.
“Without a doubt, this was a unique experience and an unforgettable feeling. We can only express our gratitude to all the people who supported us. It is extremely rewarding to be here and emerge as world champions of the Festival,” exclaimed Ana Clara Simionatto, the team’s spokesperson, to Agência Brasil.
Another Brazilian team, Pardoboots, representing Santa Cruz do Rio Pardo, also in the state of São Paulo, not only secured second place in the same category but also won the Coach/Mentor Award, given to Mônica Marques.
“The award signifies the team’s exceptional performance in all categories, being the most important recognition of the competition. We are very happy,” said Otavio Andrade, a representative of Pardoboots, to Agência Brasil.
