Caetano and Bethânia Win Grammy for Best Global Music Album – The Brasilians

Siblings Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia won the 2026 Grammy Awards this Sunday (01) in the Best Global Music Album category with the album Caetano e Bethânia Ao Vivo.

The award was received on their behalf by presenter Dee Dee Bridgewater during the event in Los Angeles, United States.

The award-winning production is a recording of the tour by the two artists. The achievement crowned an artistic moment marked by affective reunions with the public and the reaffirmation of the strength of Brazilian songwriting on the international scene.

The album, recorded throughout the tour that crossed various Brazilian cities with packed venues, brings together hits from the individual careers of the two artists, such as Reconvexo and Vaca Profana, as well as an unreleased version of , a composition by Iza with a new interpretation in the voices of the siblings.

In celebrating the victory on social media, Caetano and Bethânia wrote:

“What joy in winning the Grammys for ‘Best International Album’ together! In particular, we would like to thank the musicians who by our side made this album happen. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who listened to the album, went to the shows, and shared this story with us!”

For Maria Bethânia, the first Grammy represents international consecration after decades of career.

For Caetano, this was the sixth Grammy nomination and the third award. The Bahian artist has already won twice: with Livro (1998) and João Voz e Violão (2000), João Gilberto’s album that he produced.
