Palácio do Planalto reopens for guided tours

The Palácio do Planalto, in Brasília, reopened for guided tours on January 14, after being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.

The tours are free and must be reserved online. Children under 10 do not need to make advance reservations.

The palace, a symbol of modernist architecture in the federal capital, was vandalized during an attempted coup on January 8, 2023. After undergoing restoration, it now features a new exhibition space in its basement.

The guided tours will include the basement, first, second, and third floors. The average duration is one hour for groups of up to 30 people. Tours will take place on Sundays from 9 AM to 2 PM, with entries every half hour, and the last group admitted at 1 PM. Priority groups are also planned.
The Palace

The Palácio do Planalto, located in the heart of Brasília, was one of the first buildings constructed in the new capital and was inaugurated on April 21, 1960.

The site was the center of celebrations for the inauguration of Brasília, making history and symbolizing the transfer of the federal capital from Rio de Janeiro to the interior of the country.
