The 35th edition of BR Day NY will take place on September 1st, the Sunday before Labor Day, on 6th Avenue, between 42nd and 57th Streets and Little Brazil (46th Street), from 11 AM to 6 PM.
The producers of BR Day NY announced the lineup of artists for the event:
Simone & Simaria
The sertanejo duo Simone and Simaria is well-known throughout Brazil. They will present some of their many hits to the audience on 6th Avenue in a show that promises to move those present.
Jorge & Mateus
Representatives of what is called in Brazil “Sertanejo Universitário,” Jorge & Mateus are considered one of the leading sertanejo duos in
Brazilian music today.
They have been on the road since 2005 and have participated in a previous edition of BR Day NY. In 2012, Jorge & Mateus’ performance on 6th Avenue was an absolute success.
Alok
The music producer and DJ Alok is currently the most listened to Brazilian in the world, best known for his global hit “Hear Me Now,”
which is helping him build a large audience on all continents.
His presence at the 35th edition of BR Day will make history in NYC.
Glenda Kozlowski
The event will be hosted by Glenda Kozlowski, a Brazilian journalist, sports presenter on television, and
former bodyboarder. This will be the journalist’s first time participating in the Brazilian festival.
Jefferson Moraes
BR Day NY will also feature a special appearance by singer and songwriter Jefferson Moraes, a rising star in the Brazilian sertanejo scene.
After winning a singing contest on Brazilian TV, he became one of the most listened to artists on digital platforms and began performing all over Brazil with a schedule of over
20 shows per month.
In addition to the shows, the festival also brings typical Brazilian food, products, and most importantly, the joy of the Brazilian people.
BR Day NY is co-produced by businessman João de Matos, who is also the founder of the event, and the newspaper The Brasilians, with the support of TV Globo.
The event was created in 1984 to celebrate Brazil’s Independence. Initially, the party was restricted to 46th Street, officially known as Little Brazil; but over the years it has grown so much that it was expanded to 6th Avenue. Today, BR Day NY attracts an audience of about 1.5 million people who gather to see and hear the biggest hits from Brazil.
