The Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Brazilian José Graziano da Silva (photo), has been elected one of the most influential Latin Americans in the world by América Economía magazine. In the “Latin American Global 2016” ranking, recently published by the magazine, the head of the UN agency was recognized for his work against hunger and for promoting South-South cooperation.
Graziano is praised by América Economía for his involvement in the fight against hunger. “The recognition of people is the recognition of the ideas and causes to which they dedicate their lives. In this case, it is a recognition of rural development in the fight against hunger in Latin America and the world,” it was said about the nomination.
The magazine’s ranking also highlights Graziano’s work to expand the exchange of technical solutions among countries in the Southern Hemisphere, aiming for more sustainable development models.Other influential Latin Americans
