Brazilian Participation in the Yearly Coterie + Magic Trade Show at Javits Center

The Consulate General of Brazil in New York recently collaborated with SEBRAE-RJ (Micro and Small Business Support Service of Rio de Janeiro) to organize a fashion industry mission to New York City. This joint effort brought 32 Brazilian fashion companies to one of the world’s fashion capitals, aiming to showcase Brazilian talent and to foster international business connections.

The mission centered around participation in COTERIE, New York’s premier fashion business fair, which took place from September 22-24th. This event provided an excellent opportunity for Brazilian businesses to display their products and connect with international buyers and industry leaders. Several companies from the delegation exhibited their creations at the trade show, benefiting from the support of the TexBrasil sectorial project, a joint effort of Apex-Brasil and the Brazilian Association of the Textile and Clothing Industry (ABIT).

As part of the mission, the delegation engaged in a series of activities designed to deepen their understanding of the New York fashion market. Participants visited stores and showrooms, gaining insights into local retail strategies. They also met with marketing and advertising planning service providers, learning about promotional techniques in one of the world’s most competitive markets.

The mission began on September 18th with a meeting at the Consulate General of Brazil’s auditorium. This gathering brought together representatives from all participating companies and key figures from SEBRAE-RJ, including Board President Robson de Lima Carneiro, Council Member Luiz A. P. Velloso Junior, and Director Julio Cezar R. de Freitas. Leonardo Enge, Head of the Trade Promotion and Investment Bureau (SECOM) at the Consulate General, welcomed the delegation and presented an overview of the Bureau’s activities and the services available to support Brazilian exporters.

This mission, supported by the Consulate General of Brazil in New York, reflects Brazil’s efforts to promote its fashion industry internationally. By facilitating exposure to the New York market and encouraging international connections, the initiative aims to enhance the competitiveness and global reach of Brazilian fashion businesses, opening doors for future growth and collaboration in the international fashion scene.
