Baby do Brasil, The Muse Of The “Novos Baianos”, Will Be In NY This Weekend

From hippie diva to star of Novos Baianos, from fashion icon to symbol of the counterculture, going through the status of one of the most outstanding voices of MPB, Baby do Brasil definitely did not stop in time. And after celebrating 50 years of Novos Baianos, half a century of “Acabou Chorare” and releasing the album in celebration of 70 years of Baby and Pepeu, the singer is on the road with the new tour “Baby do Brasil In Concert”, on September 23, at City Winery.

The show brings together 50 years of music, full of hits, in almost two hours of show and is directed by Allex Colontonio. Baby takes the stage with the same vibe as the artist who inaugurated the culture of electric trios in Brazil. “Vibrating with the public and exchanging this energy is fundamental for me. We work very hard to offer the maximum quality in repertoire, arrangements, visuals and musicality that springs from my soul and the excellent musicians that accompany me”, says Baby who will have, when the stage allows, three guitars, in addition to keyboards, bass, drums and percussion.

For the repertoire, she chose to mix bossa nova, chorinho, Brazilian samba, a lot of rock, with a dash of jazz, in addition to the great hits of her authorship and new songs. Baby still pays tribute to Gal Costa, Rita Lee, Elza Soares and Moraes Moreira. Hits like Menino do Rio, Telúrica, Sem Pecado and Sem Juízo and Masculino e Feminino were chosen for the set list. From the repertoire of Novos Baianos, there will be no shortage of A Menina Dança, Acabou Chorare and Dá Um Rolê, among others.
