Applications Opened For The Academy For Women Entrepreneurs (AWE)

The United States Embassy and Consulates in Brazil, in partnership with Amazon.com and the implementation of the +Unidos Group, opens registration for the third edition of the Academy For Women Entrepreneurs (AWE 3.0) program. The free program will offer 90 openings and seeks to support female entrepreneurship. To participate, applicants must be 25 years or older, have an established business for at least one year, and have between one and five employees. Registration will be open until May 26 through the link: www.maisunidos.org/awebrasil/

AWE is a program of the U.S. State Department and has already benefited more than 10,000 women in about 50 countries. The initiative has the educational support of the social startup Somos Todas Marias and focuses on entrepreneurial education, helping participants acquire training in marketing strategies to leverage the economic potential of their businesses. The program also offers mentoring with specialized market professionals.

“AWE brought me a clearer vision of what I seek as a person and as an entrepreneur. I was able to get inspiration and improve my business model, and now our goal is to expand and show society the unique qualities we have developed. I feel more fulfilled as a person and as a woman, besides having had the opportunity to realize the value of female entrepreneurship through contact with other businesswomen”, says Brenda Mendes, AWE 2.0 winner.

The AWE-Brazil 3.0 curriculum is based on Arizona State University’s Global Entrepreneurship and Innovation Bootcamp – 100 Million Learners Program and includes modules that will cover topics such as: leadership and management, technology, strategic planning, business implementation and expansion, ethical responsibility, recruiting (hiring), organizational culture and diversity, people development, value chains, financial management, financing, public-private partnerships, social entrepreneurship, creating customer loyalty, branding, intellectual property, e-commerce, and social media. Participants will participate in activities such as lectures, workshops, virtual fairs, interactions with successful female entrepreneurs, and follow-up from experienced mentors.

+Unidos, a non-profit association, is a collaborative social investment fund conceived by the U.S. Embassy through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The Group, formed by large companies operating in Brazil, has been working since 2008 to empower young Brazilians by developing initiatives focused on education and technological training, proposing a new way of thinking about the efforts in social responsibility that are currently taking place in the country.  For more information, access: www.maisunidos.org
