The Brazilian government has launched the National Tourism Plan (PNT) 2024-2027 with several goals for the sector. These include increasing domestic travel from 93 million to 150 million trips, bringing 8.1 million international tourists to Brazil, and the expectation of $8.1 billion in revenue generated by foreigners. Additionally, the plan aims to boost formal employment in the national tourism industry to 3 million jobs.
The launch took place in Rio de Janeiro, during the 8th edition of the ” Tourism Fair: Get to know Brazil.”
Tourism Minister Celso Sabino noted that the optimism is bolstered by recent figures, which are driving the development of other sectors across the country.
“We’re thrilled with the progress of Brazilian tourism. Since January 1, 2023, we’ve already created over 50,000 new jobs,” said the minister. “With more hotels, additional flights, and increased income, Brazilians are traveling more and showing a growing interest in exploring their own country.”
The PNT establishes the following principles: cooperation and regionalization, human development and productive inclusion, sustainability, innovation, digital transformation, and democratizing access to tourism. In alignment with the 2024-2027 Multiannual Plan, it outlines 20 sectoral programs and initiatives. Among the ministry’s highlighted actions is the Climate Adaptation Plan for Tourism, which aligns with the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda.
