The Brazilian Amazon has been featured in the news due to fires that devastated parts of the largest rainforest in the world. People in all continents have been outraged, predicting the consequences of the loss and trying to create awareness to the importance of this ecosystem.
All the discussion about this subject is the inspiration behind Marize Koerich’s new artwork collection “AmazoNYa 4.0”, which was on view in New York City, from October 31st to November 2nd, 2019, at Saphira & Ventura Gallery.
Marize Koerich, a Brazilian native, advocates that sustainability and technological progress should walk together; therefore, her new collection wants to show that the future may relies on the use of new technologies, particularly those used in the so-called Industry 4.0, to enable the continued 
use of natural resources such as the Amazon Rainforest.
“I see people supporting either cause, the forest or the technological progress, as if it wasn’t possible to have both”, says Koerich. “Through my artwork I advocate that we can’t stop our evolution, but we need to make use of the greatest brains we find in big cities like New York to rethink how we are consuming and making decisions about the forest”, she adds.
“AmazoNYa 4.0” launched in New York a project that aims to raise awareness to the importance of the Amazon Rainforest and the sustainable development of our economies through art. The project, called “The Biennial Ama + Zonia 2020”, will feature art exhibitions, conference, and workshops that will be held in Belém, Brazil, in September of 2020, and will get together artists, gallerists, universities, scientists, government agencies and non-profit organizations. Other events will take place in São Paulo and New York. “The Biennial Ama + Zonia 2020” is produced by Saphira & Ventura Gallery, the New York International Contemporary Art Society and São Paulo International Contemporary Art Society.
